Jake, Linnea, Ladybird and I made the trip down to the old swimming hole yesterday.  Overall, I'd give the trip a B-, but that's just because of the last 20% of the trip which went downhill in a considerable way.  A water moccasin* made its way to our space, and then I managed to find one of the extra-slippery rocks, took a dive, tried to break my kneecap and somehow ripped a hole in my bag which let a zip-locked bag containing my cell phone escape.  So, there's a Motorola Razr floating in the Cahaba somewhere, and my cell phone company now owns me for a two-year extension on my contract.

*I was quite calm about being the one who noticed THE FUCKING SNAKE THAT WAS FLOATING A FEW FEET AWAY FROM ME and backed away slowly out of the water and didn't totally freak out because IT'S A FUCKING SNAKE.  I freaked out, just a little, in private later.

But, the first 80% of the trip was a total blast.  Jake, Linnea and I consumed a few beverages and Ladybird chased her tennis ball without stopping for the whole of the trip (until the FUCKING SNAKE dropped in). 

The trip directly contributed to missing a night of entertainment in the 'ham, what with This Bike is a Pipebomb playing at Cave9, the Smoking Popes at Bottletree and Bun B at the Platinum.  All of that, and I took a five hour nap.
